USB credit card rolled out in Korea

2008 June 27

Korean company, Shinhan Card, has rolled out a USB type credit card in Korea. The USB credit card gives contactless payment for both online and at any franchise stores. While you’re making payment online, just hook it up to your computer, it’ll enter your credit card info automatically, without needing you to key in the credit card information on the online store.

The USB credit card allows touchless payment too at franchise stores that have IC card readers. The USB credit card is purely for making touchless payment for both online and offline. It’s not meant for you to store or delete data on it. Anyway, I’m skeptical about its security. What if you lost it and the one who’s got it could simply make use of it to make payment for both online and offline.
