New Symbol of Seoul, Haechi

Do you know what the symbolof Seoul is? It’s Haechi! It is a legendary animal. It is said that Haechi protects justice and keeps away disaster. A long time ago, people used to build stone statues of Haechi in front of the royal palace. 
Now, this special animal is a new symbol of Seoul. The city’s old symbol was “WangBomi,” a tiger character. Recently, Seoul Metropolitan Government서울특별시 announced that Haechi will represent the capital city. It plans to make Haechi statues and souvenirs. “Haechi is believed to bring joy and good luck. It is a very holyanimal,” said Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon.
However, some people say that most Koreans are not familiar with the animal. They believe that Haechi is not a good choice as Seoul’s symbol. So, what do you think of the new symbol of Seoul?
