Feedmil, the longtail blog feed search

Thanks to Channy Yun

I’m also heavy RSS reader with over 200 feeds and it’s hard to track many famous blogs. Strangely I found sometimes that good blogs were hidden with no influence and rare good qualified posting. So I added them and instead removed newspaper-like blogs that publish many articles per day to keep proper numbers RSS feeds following up.

Recently how to find good feeds is very important to me. Now I’m studying in Ph.D course and one of my professors focused on this issue and made feed search engine so called Feedmil.com. I used this for a month in closed beta and found some good feeds in my favorite topics.

Korean police respond to Internet suicide sites

Posted on  futurizekorea.com

After a number of recent group suicides in Korea, the government and police focused on the role of the Internet in facilitating these deaths. One operator of an Internet cafe was arrested this week for his alleged role in assisting a group suicide attempt: On Sunday, police interrupted a suicide attempt at a local hotel room in downtown Seoul involving five people who gathered after meeting through an Internet cafe. The group had devised their plan through e-mails and instant messenger services. The Web site’s manager, identified by his last name Kim, was booked on suspicion of abetting in the suicide attempt.

WiBro: On It’s Last Legs? Or Given a Leg Up?

Posted on stafford.squarespace.com

As the K-Times is sometimes wont to do it has published two somewhat conflicting articles over the last week or so regarding WiBro.

For those not in the know WiBro is a mobile wireless standard that promises Internet and voice connectivity on the go at speeds closer to fixed line offerings (about 10Mb/s download adn 8Mb/s up) but with the convenience of mobile (which offers about 10Mb/s down and 1Mb/s (if you’re lucky) up).

As with a number of technologies before it (think SSL encryption and the debacle Active X controls have made it here) Korea was first to jump on the band wagon of what would eventually become WiMax in North America (which in itself is slightly different).

This posses a problem here in Korea, the least of which being people are starting to skip WiMax altogether in favour of the Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless standard.

WiBro sales have been pretty poor – mainly because operators refuse to let customers out of their walled garden when it comes to the Internets – But also because Korea already has a tried and true (dare I say it) *Ubiquitous* wi-fi coverage:

South Korea takes first steps against swine flu.

Posted on briandeutsch.blogspot.com

The Korean government has begun screening passengers arriving from the US and Mexico, says the Korea Times, in light of the outbreak of Mexican swine flu that has killed 81 so far in those two countries, and which has led the US to declare a public health emergency.

The Incheon International Airport quarantine office has toughened a rapid antigen test to screen out possibly affected people on the spot. Those detected will immediately be sent to hospitals for treatment and isolation.

“If anyone has a high fever, feels lethargic and sick, has a runny nose or severely itchy throats for a week after a trip, he or she is advised to report to the nearest public healthcare center,” Shin Sang-sook, a KCDC official said.

5 Unique Websites with Very Useful Tag Clouds

Posted on makeuseof.com

tag cloudGenerally, tag or word clouds visually depict the words used in a given text. Frequently used words may stick out with an increased font size, groups of tags may appear in uniform colors. Additionally, tag clouds can visualize relationships of words.

Tag clouds are much easier to grasp than simple lists, as words can be weighted with the help of font size and color.

We see tag clouds on lots of sites these days. Almost in all cases the purpose of the tag cloud is to give user an easier way to browse the site and at the same time see popular content.

Here are some of my favorite ways tag clouds are used on the web.
