Car navigation systems are gaining popularity in Korea offering some unique real-time services like where to find the cheapest gas:
The networks SBS and YTN started to provide real-time traffic information service, including gasoline prices, last October. The system compares gasoline and diesel prices at 135,000 gas stations and the state of congested roads on a daily basis. Because of the success of these services, MBC is reportedly planning to launch a traffic and gas-price service as well.
KT and EASYCAR launched a new WiBro-enabled navigation system in May. And a Reuters article mentions some other WiBro navigation systems in the works:
Another South Korean firm, Thinkware System, has partnered with network operator KT and will begin selling a new WiMax-powered navigation system next month.
