Most singles in Seoul are blue-collar workers and live around the circular Subway Line 2. That emerges from a demographic report on the city published Wednesday by Byun Mi-ree, a research fellow at the Seoul Development Institute. The data used is the 2005 census by the National Statistical Office.

Sano Katsuhiko, uniform research director for Tombo, says

“The ideal length for skirts is just a few centimeters above the knees. Tokyo is still too short, and Kobe is too long.”

The Gangwon Province Office of Education has cooked up a brilliant scheme to deal with this problem. They will spend 820 million won on new desks that will be specially-constructed so as to hide the schoolgirls’ legs.
