Naver the most prominent alternatives to Google ?

Posted on: Web20asia.com

In recent Newsweek article “Searching for the Best Engine”, Naver of Korea appeared first on the list of alternative search engines on the illustration. The article doesn’t mention much about Naver or Baidu, except that Google has less than 2% market share in Korea while it “draws 60 percent of all searches worldwide, with Yahoo a distant second at 14 percent and mighty Microsoft limping along at 4 percent”. It would be interesting to see how long this Naver dominance will continue in Korea. I’m not a particular fan of Naver, but I think their rise to the world’s top 5 search service despite the fact that they are mostly operating in Korea is quite a remarkable achivement.
