Koreans who download music to their mobile phones will now be able to listen to the same songs on MP3 players and computers as well, starting yesterday for SK Telecom customers. KTF and LG Telecom will follow suit next month.
Previously, songs purchased and downloaded through a telecom company were only compatible with the phone itself and were accessible for a limited period.
The new approach to music, which will allow songs purchased on the telecoms’ Web sites to be played on any music device, is called digital rights management-free music files, or DRM-free.
